A Little Bit of Background
Hello!
Welcome to my final project. I am currently a Writing Arts major at a University. This semester, because of senior privilege (where you can pick classes before the registration period starts), I was able to get into classes I couldn't get into during my first two semesters. Writing, Research, and Technology is a mandatory class you have to take to get your degree in Writing Arts. I decided to take it this semester because otherwise I would have to stay an extra semester.
My professor for this class, Dr. Cydney Alexis, assigned us three major projects through the course of this semester. This page is for the final project assigned. Our goal this semester was to research one topic. We had to post what we found, content from class, and meaingful pictures onto our Instagram page. The topic I picked was theatre because I have already earned my Associate's Degree in Theatre. My parents and I are actors and I grew up on the stage. Why pick something that I had absolutely no idea about?
As we came up with our own topics and what we wanted to explore, Dr. Alexis threw in a twist right before we were assigned the final assignment sheet. We were told we now had to prove how at least one aspect of our topic was socially constructed. This is my website on how theatre audiences are socially constructed. I will be using terms such as "highbrow," "lowbrow," and "middlebrow" to explain how audiences in today's society differ from the Greek audiences from whence Theatre originated.
You'll find the pages labeled "Barthes," "Origins," "Society," and "Social Media" to be what I found through research and citations that help my argument. "Relations" is the page that ties all of them together.
I hope you enjoy. :)
